I know it can be done because my friend got a used ipod that had music in it and she gave it to a friend who put some music in it and it did not delete the old music. What’s the secret?

When an iPod is plugged into a computer and iTunes is open, click the iPod in the source list (left side). Now click the settings tab (near top, middle). Make sure the iPod is not set to automatically synchronize with the host computer.

Now, you can drag songs from any computer’s library into your iPod.

(Note: If your iPod is set to automatically synchronize, all the songs on it will be gray. If it’s set to manual mode, all the song titles will be black and playable.)

Connect iPod to your computer. Open iTunes and click iPod icon to set “Manully manage music and videos”. Then you can drag songs from other iTunes Library to your iPod without deleting old songs.
