What is the best Michigan university for music?

Although my son will probably major in a technical field, such as engineering, we are also looking for a strong music school. In our neighborhood, there seems to be a rivalry among the MSU music grads and the CMU music grads. Are these the best schools for music? Why such a rivalry?

The University of Michigan is the best school in the state for music. To boot, it’s also the best school in the state for engineering.
Of course, MSU and CMU also offer music programs and engineering programs, but truthfully I would consider these schools only if he doesn’t stand as good of a chance of making it into U of M. And I say that honestly in spite of my allegience to my undergraduate university.

I have a friend that went to Wayne State for music because it was supposed to be one of the best, so I have no idea. Have your son go to U of M for engineering. Go blue!
